About Good Shepherd

The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, also known as the Good Shepherd Sisters, is an international religious congregation.

Called to a mission of reconciliation, the Good Shepherd Sisters commit themselves to live the Gospel message of Jesus, the Good Shepherd in the spirit of their Foundress, Saint Mary Euphrasia.

Rose Virginie Pelletier (1796-1868) was born on Noirmoutier island, France.  At the age of 18, she joined the Order of Our Lady of Charity of the Refuge in Tours, France, receiving the name Mary Euphraisa.

In 1829, Saint Mary Euphrasia founded a new community of Our Lady of Charity in Angers, France.  She named it “Good Shepherd” after an institution dedicated to the same mission that existed in Angers before the French Revolution.

Saint Mary Euphrasia envisioned a governing structure that would enable the sisters to carry on the mission globally.  She requested permission from the pope to establish a Generalate (central administration), which, after much struggle and challenges, was granted in 1835.  This new initiative resulted in the founding of the new Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd.

In Singapore, the Good Shepherd Sisters established Good Shepherd Convent Kindergarten in 1954 and Marymount Kindergarten in 1963 to provide quality early childhood education that encompass the Catholic values for young children.  Both kindergartens were converted to Good Shepherd Preschool (2023) and Marymount Preschool (2020) respectively.

What makes them love us?

Good Shepherd has been extremely formative for both my kids. Both my kids love going to school and never have had any problem settling in. The care that is given by the teachers is also exemplary. They go above and beyond to foster the love of education in all children. Besides the usual curriculum, the school also puts in a lot of effort to help each child grow both emotionally and socially. There is never a bad word I could say about the school, the management or the teachers.

Good Shepherd Preschool (formerly known as Good Shepherd Covent Kindergarten) provides a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment for my children’s pre-school years. The teachers are caring, engaging and are experienced in encouraging children to give the best of themselves. I deeply appreciate the holistic approach the school takes to learning.

I like Good Shepherd Preschool (formerly known as Good Shepherd Covent Kindergarten) for teachers are experienced and always kind. The turnover for teachers are not high which explains the environment is conducive. As it’s a Catholic Kindergarten it reinforces good values such as love, kindness and gentleness to students. Saying grace before meals is a good habit for students. Meals are prepared healthily by the school and it’s always fresh and good.

2 of my children have graduated and my youngest is graduating this year. They love the friendly and caring teachers and the cosy environment of the school.
